Tool Debuts Live ‘7empest’ In Sydney

153

Tool offered the live debut of “7empest” on Tuesday night at the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney. “7empest” appears on the band’s 2019 album Fear Inoculum, which leaves “Culling Voices” as the only track on the LP that has yet to be performed live.

The studio version of “7empest” earned Tool a Grammy for Best Metal Performance in January. Last night, the quartet fit the first ever live “7empest” within a show that included four other songs from Fear Inoculum. The band consisting of frontman Maynard James Keenan, guitarist Adam Jones, bassist Justin Chancellor and drummer Danny Carey also performed a number of classics such as “Forty Six & 2,” “Stinkfist,” “Parabola,” “The Patient” and “Jambi.”

“7empest” was the penultimate song of Tool’s main set at their second of two shows in Sydney and was followed by a set-closing “Forty Six & 2.” For the encore, a drum solo led into Fear Inoculum’s “Chocolate Chip Trip” before the quartet ended the night with “Invincible” and “Stinkfist.”
