Voodoo Dead Kicks Off 2020 Tour At The Ardmore Music Hall: Pro-Shot Full Show Video

132

Supergroup Voodoo Dead played their first show of 2020 on Wednesday night at The Ardmore Music Hall near Philadelphia. The group consisting of guitarists Steve Kimock and Al Schnier, bassist George Porter Jr., keyboardist Jeff Chimenti and drummer John Kimock focused on classics from the Grateful Dead’s live repertoire in Ardmore.

Schnier led the group through a nearly 15-minute “Loose Lucy” to get the concert underway. Al also handled lead vocals on the “Bertha” that followed before George Porter Jr. fronted the group on “Black Muddy River.” The “voodoo” portion of the night came next, as the quintet covered the iconic New Orleans song “Mardi Gras Mambo.” An adventurous “Good Lovin’” closed out the set.

Voodoo Dead returned after setbreak with the pairing of “Help On The Way” and “Slipknot!” However, instead of landing of the usual “Franklin’s Tower,” the five-piece instead dropped into “Big Railroad Blues.” The “Big Railroad Blues” spanned nearly 15 minutes and gave way to a “They Love Each Other” featuring an impressive solo from Steve Kimock. Next, the band worked “New Speedway Boogie” into “Smokestack Lightning” before ending the night with “Not Fade Away.” A free live stream of tonight’s Voodoo Dead show in Port Chester, New York is available via The Relix Channel.
