The Dixie Chicks served as the musical guest on Monday’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Natalie Maines, Emily Strayer and Martie Maguire not only led their band on a performance of their new single, they also sat for an interview with host Ellen DeGeneres.
On May 1, the Dixie Chicks will release Gaslighter — their first album of new material since 2006 — via Columbia Records. The trio recently unveiled the title track as its lead single. Monday’s performance of “Gaslighter” showed off the Dixie Chicks’ new touring band, which includes keyboardist Erik Deutsch, who recently announced his departure from Leftover Salmon. The Dixie Chicks tapped Jack Antonoff to produce Gaslighter.

Dixie Chicks Announce 1st New Album Since 2006 ‘Gaslighter’ & Share Single
Dixie Chicks will release ‘Gaslighter,’ their first new album since 2006 featuring the title track single.
Natalie, Emily and Martie spoke with Ellen DeGeneres about the controversy that stemmed from comments Maines made during a 2003 concert in London protesting the Iraq War that led to a boycott of their music. The trio explained the backlash, as well as their desire to spend time with their families, led to their long hiatus. The Dixie Chicks also participated in “Who Would Natalie Rather?” as they tried to determine who Maines’ “type” was as she is currently single.
