Goose Debuts Father John Misty & Tom Waits Covers During aGOOSEtic Livestream

Goose performed an acoustic set from Connecticut on Saturday night dubbed the “agöosetic” livestream for nugs.tv and 11E1even Group’s Live From Out There series. The quartet would debut songs by Tom Waits and Father John Misty during the single set.

The living room concert got underway with the Goose debut of Tom Waits’ “Gun Street Girl.” The song originally appears on Waits’ 1985 album Rain Dogs, an ode to the dispossessed of New York City. The darkened room rendition saw Goose’s Rick Mitarotonda handling lead vocals and guitar while multi-instrumentalist Peter Anspach strummed the acoustic over Ben Atkind’s shuffling beat and Trevor Weekz brooding bass line.

Goose continued with their own “Drive” and “A Western Sun” before unveiling another cover, this time Father John Misty’s “I’m Writing A Novel.” The Dylan-esque stream of consciousness romp appears on Josh Tillman’s debut album under the Father John Misty moniker, 2012’s Fear Fun. Goose would take the set home with a trio of originals including “Lead The Way” from their 2016 debut album Moon Cabin and newer tune “Tumble.” The band brought the set to a close with “Rosewood Heart.”
