The new platform Live Lesson Masters allows music fans to participate in one-and-one and group lessons with members of The Disco Biscuits, Umphrey’s McGee, STS9 and many other musicians. Live Lesson Masters also incorporates yoga and cooking lessons with dj/producer, live production and studio production lessons in the works.
Bassist Marc Brownstein of the Disco Biscuits co-founded Live Lesson Masters with Alicia Karlin, VP of Global Touring & Talent at AEG Presents to give fans a chance to interact and learn from musicians and other “Master” instructors while providing a revenue opportunity for those providing the lessons during the coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak. All four members of tDB, members of UM, STS9 and Lotus, keyboardist Robert Walter, saxophonist James Casey, guitarist Tom Hamilton and keyboardist Holly Bowling are among participating musicians at the time of launch.
“In a world where artists and fans are accustomed to using social media as the hub for their communities, Live Lesson Masters’ unique one-on-one offerings take the possibilities of connection much further,” explained Alicia Karlin in a statement. “Right now, we are all feeling anxious about the current state of things. We hope Live Lesson Masters creates a space where engagement happens, and where people can use this time to further their own creative pursuits and leave their troubles at the door for a while.”
“We wanted to provide a seamless platform for musicians and instructors to interface directly with the people. With the industry grinding to a halt, musicians across the country are eager to find new ways to connect with their fans,” added Brownstein. “I have personally booked over 20 lessons with my fans in the first week of the quarantine, and immediately realized how exciting this opportunity could be for both the fans and my fellow musicians.” A portion of Live Lesson Masters‘ proceeds will benefit “a variety of organizations that support musicians and touring personnel in need.”
