PREMIERE: Kingswood Run Free In Reflective New Video For ‘Cigarettes In Bed’

We’re lucky to be premiering Kingswood’s new film clip for ‘Cigarettes in Bed’ today. The song is taken from their new album Juveniles, which came out just a couple of weeks ago.

Directed by Kyle Caulfield, the video sees the Kingswood boys running through a field at sunset. It’s aesthetically pleasing AF and looks like a visual representation of that catharsis you hear in the track.

The clip was filmed at band member Alex Laska’s family farm and he says it was surreal to shoot the clip there.

“[The family farm was] first worked by my grandparents and subsequently my father and uncle. I used to go as a child and jump on the back of the ute, feed the cows etc. It was quite a beautiful ‘full circle moment’ to return in a creative capacity to something that ultimately led to my existence. The album and the songs within maintain a lot of reflection; the art seems to be cathartic in that way for both Ferg and myself,” says Laska.

“This song in particular, was almost over looked as Ferg had some anecdotal musings he was reciting over a past relationship one day in the studio – specifically the line ‘I still miss smoking cigarettes in bed’ – which he thought was a bit throw away, superfluous almost – really resonated with me as an insight into his emotive state.

“The song very quickly took shape musically at that point and again, yielded some cathartic and romantic reflection allowing for what you’re now seeing here to unfold.”

We recently hit up Kingswood to let us know where the best cheap eats in Australia were and they delivered the goods. Unfortunatly Kingswood have had to cancel their huge national tour due to COVID-19 but that doesn’t mean you can’t soak up the vibes from your own home via Juveniles, out now.
