Reed Mathis Continues To Cover New Trey Anastasio Songs

140

Last week, musician Reed Mathis began a nightly series of Quarantine Medicinal Jams livestreams. Mathis started a trend on Wednesday night by performing songs released by Trey Anastasio hours after the Phish guitarist premiered them. Reed has been continuing the trend including during Sunday’s livestream when he covered Anastasio’s latest offering.

Reed kicked off last night’s Quarantine Medicinal Jams was a performance of “We Got Each Other,” a tune Grace Potter shared the previous day. Mathis then treated viewers to his rendition of Anastasio’s “I Never Needed You Like This Before” just hours after Trey released the track. Previously, Reed had performed “Lost In The Pack,” “When The Words Go Away” and “Timeless” — each of which was penned by Anastasio and longtime collaborators Tom Marshall and Scott Herman — during Quarantine Medicinal Jams livestreams.

Other songs performed by Mathis last night included the Grateful Dead’s “Jack Straw,” Bob Dylan’s “You’re A Big Girl Now,” Marty Robbins’ “El Paso” and The Flaming Lips’ “The Race For The Prize.” Watch Reed’s entire Sunday night Quarantine Medicinal Jams livestream below:
