One of just 194 1996 Porsche 911 GT2s ever produced is being sold by RM Sotheby’s in a special auction that’s being conducted online due to the coronavirus outbreak

The Monterey, California-based classic car dealer reports that the 993-gen 911 was introduced as an answer to racing organizations’ ban of all-wheel drivetrains for GT2-class cars.

Powered by a 430-hp 3.6-liter flat-six, the 993 GT2 is the most expensive and fastest 911 model with an entirely air-cooled engine. Those horses are fed through a six-speed transmission and a 40/60 limited-slip diff. Performance highlights include zero-to-60 mph time of four seconds flat and a top speed of 190 mph.

RM Sotheby’s also notes that unlike many other GT2s, this example is presented totally unmodified, just as it rolled off the assembly line. Range-topping bodywork finished in “Polar Silver” includes an aluminum front trunk and doors, as well as an ultra-aggro aero package featuring a a huge bi-plane rear wing and front splitter.

A set of exclusive 18-inch “Speedline for Porsche” alloy wheels with aluminum outer rims and magnesium centers are equipped with carbon-fiber ceramic disc brakes. Inside is a a two-tone black-and-grey interior with leather bucket seats, air-conditioning, electric windows, front airbags, and a tinted windshield.

Even with 18,712 miles on the odometer, the rare ride is expected to fetch between $950,000 and $1.1 million. Visit RM Sotheby’s website to register to bid through March 28.
