The Strokes Launch Pirate Radio Series

125

The Strokes debuted a new pirate radio series, Five Guys talking about things they know nothing about. The ongoing virtual talk show launched one day before the renowned rockers release their album, The New Abnormal, through Cult/RCA tomorrow, Friday, April 10.

The new talk series sees the “Five Guys” — vocalist Julian Casablancas, guitarists Nick Valensi and Albert Hammond Jr, bassist Nikolai Fraiture and drummer Fabrizio Moretti — rapping about inspiration, influences, day-to-day life and more via Zoom. A statement from the band detailing the new project came with the video. Read it below:

Hello prisoners of earth,

Like many out there we are staying pretty much at home and keeping to ourselves. We wanted to see if we could connect with folks, and turned what was supposed to be a pirate radio thing for our album release (which we would make in-person) into a video chat instead… “5 guys talking about things they know nothing about.” In light of everything that’s been happening, we hope this distracts you during your quarantine…

Love

The Strokes
