Car Seat Headrest Releases ‘Making A Door Less Open’

133

Car Seat Headrest returns with their first album of new songs since 2016’s Teens Of Denial. Making A Doors Less Open, out today on Matador, is an innovative and adventurous effort from Will Toledo and company.

Over the course of four years, Car Seat Headrest recorded the LP twice: once with conventional instruments from the full band — guitars from Toledo and Ethan Ives, bass from Seth Dalby and drums from Andrew Katz — and once with synthesized, electronic elements from 1 Trait Danger, a CSH side project of Toledo and Katz’ led by Will’s masked alternative persona, Trait. The band then blended both efforts during mixing to produce the final cut of Making A Door Less Open.

Car Seat Headrest previewed the record with the electro-tinged “Can’t Cool Me Down” and a lyric visual for “Martin” ahead of the music video for the stellar rocker “Hollywood.” The band then heralded the imminent release of MADLO with the slow burn of “There Must Be More Than Blood.”
