New York Guitar Festival Adds Warren Haynes To Lineup

Warren Haynes will perform as part of the New York Guitar Festival’s series of Reverend Gary Davis: In Search Of The Harlem Street Singer livestreams. The Gov’t Mule frontman will take the festival’s virtual stage on Thursday, May 14 at 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT via YouTube and the JamBase Livestreams Calendar.

The New York Guitar Festival began yesterday with Rosanne Cash and John Leventhal‘s performance of the reverend’s “Tryin’ To Get Home.” Amythyst Kiah continues the series later today at 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT. The series runs through Friday, May 15 and also includes Jorma Kaukonen, Larry Campbell & Teresa Williams, Bill Frisell, Larkin Poe and more.

“Rev. Gary Davis is one of those curious figures in music history who should be famous, but who’s also a lot better known than you might think,” said WNYC’s John Schaefer, when this year’s New York Guitar Festival was first announced. “Listening to, and sharing, music has been a lifeline for so many people during this period of social isolation. We hope this project will spread the joy, and shine a light on the remarkable music and resilient life of Reverend Gary Davis,” added the festival’s artistic director David Spelman.
