Rough and Rowdy Ways, Bob Dylan‘s first album of new material in eight years, will be released tomorrow – Friday, 19th June.
Now, it’s been revealed that Fiona Apple – still fresh off releasing her critically acclaimed Fetch the Bolt Cutters – will feature on the album. Apple is listed as an additional musician in the liner notes along with Blake Mills, Benmont Tench, Alan Pasqua and Tommy Rhodes.
My money has always been that it’s Alan Pasqua playing piano on Murder Most Foul but the inclusion of Benmont on the list of additional musicians is interesting. pic.twitter.com/2NO5rfiF0w

While Apple’s exact contribution to the record is still unknown, a representative for Dylan has confirmed she appears.
Rough and Rowdy Ways marks the first album of original material from Dylan since his 2012 record Tempest. Since then, he’s recorded three albums of standards made famous by Frank Sinatra – 2015’s Shadows in the Night, 2016’s Fallen Angels and Triplicate in 2017. He’s also continued to release hit Bootleg Series, the most recent being a 1969 session with none other than Johnny Cash.
Dylan has released three singles from Rough and Rowdy Ways ahead of its release. There was ‘Murder Most Foul’, the 17-minute epic about the JFK assassination, the Walt Whitman-referencing ‘I Contain Multitudes’ and, most recently, ‘False Prophet’.
Apple released Fetch the Bolt Cutters back in April, her first album since 2012’s The Idler Wheel…
