Goose Performs ‘Get Involved’ Secret Set Following Final Bingo Concert

133

Goose delivered their final bingo concert on Saturday. The band followed it with a “Get Involved” late night secret set which aired around 1:30 a.m. ET.

Goose kicked off the bingo show with the high energy of The Trammps’ “Disco Inferno.” The original “Hot Tea” followed, which encompassed “Creatures.” Goose continued with more original material in “Slow Ready” which led into the “Free Space Jam” of the evening. The band closed out the first frame with a slowed-down melodic version of their song “All I Need.”

After the original laden first set, the bingo balls cooked up a cover-heavy second which began with a reggae version of Father John Misty’s “I’m Writing A Novel.” The Mystery Song #2 ball then popped up prompting Goose to unveil a tune called “Whales.” A slew of covers followed including Kylie Minogue’s “Can’t Get You Outta My Head,” Wilson Pickett’s “Mustang Sally” and “Radiohead’s “Weird Fishes” with originals “Tumble” and “Arcadia” peppered in. Four Non Blondes “Whats Up” closed out the second set. Goose then encored with their original “Butter Rum” which contained The Clash’s “Rock The Casbah,” featuring percussionist Jeff Arevalo on lead vocals.

The “Get Involved” secret set saw things going country with Billy Ray Cyrus’ “Achy Breaky Heart,” which was last played on December 23, 2016 at Goosemas 3. The song got underway with Coach on the rainstick and friend of the band Pete Campbell on gong. Bassist Trevor Weekz then stood front and center to sing the country classic with keyboardist/guitarist Peter Anspach on bass and each band member save for Weekz wearing a bingo visor. Guitarist Rick Mitarotonda delivered some twang before strumming his way into “Arrow.” Rick delivered the opening riff before the band got into the funk-tinged tune laced with clav from Anspach. Mitarotonda then led everyone through a jam section with soaring, blissful soloing before Goose dropped back into the main riff with Rick and Peter harmonizing on the “Oooh” section. Next, Mitarotonda once again led the band through a high-energy jam section before entering a darker, dirtier space ahead of the song’s triumphant conclusion which saw Peter joining Rick on guitar. All in all, “Arrow” stretched to around 20-minutes and put an exclamation point on the evening.
