Mikal Cronin announced a new album, Switched-On Seeker, due out digitally on June 30 via Merge Records. Cronin also shared the single, “Guardian Well (Switched-On Version).”
Switched-On Seeker is the companion LP to Cronin’s 2019 album Seeker, which arrived in October. Switched-On Seeker — the title for which was inspired by records from electronic music pioneer Wendy Carlos — sees Cronin reworking each track from Seeker with his collection of synths and drum machines. Those synths and drum machines include an Arturia DrumBrute, Moog Sub 37, Moog Mother-32, Hohner String Performer, Mellotron, Omnichord, various little Casios, Roland SH-01A, Korg R3 and classic drum machine samples.
Switched-On Seeker arrives digitally on June 30 but will also see an August 29 vinyl release for Record Store Day. Listen to preview track “Guardian Well (Switched-On Version)” below:
