moe. Releases ‘Jazz Cigarette’ Single & Rehearsal Video

moe. unveiled “Jazz Cigarette,” the latest single from their forthcoming This Is Not, We Are studio album. The quintet continues to release tracks from their first studio album since 2014 one song at a time leading up to Friday, June 26 when the complete digital LP comes out via Fatboy Records.

“Jazz Cigarette” was written by moe. percussionist Jim Loughlin. The band presented the live debut of the instrumental on February 16, 2019 at the State Theatre in Portland, Maine. moe. performed “Jazz Cigarette” 12 additional times with the most recent version played at the Fremont Theater in San Luis Obispo, California on March 4, 2020.

The song is “a wacky, cartoonish piece of music that all of us have an affinity for,” moe. guitarist Chuck Garvey explained to Relix. “It swings and it’s got a lot of elements that are interesting to everyone in the band, so it’s fun to play.” Stream the studio version of “Jazz Cigarette” below:
