moe. ended their moe.ron Mondays live archival video series by airing footage from their June 10 and 11, 2005 performances. The shows took place at The State Theatre in Portland, Maine. While all of the June 10th concert was broadcast last week, this week’s video focused on the band’s final set of the run and included footage from outside of the venue during an evacuation after a fire alarm was pulled.
moe. recorded both concerts for a future release and as such didn’t allow taping. The band decided against releasing the shows as a live DVD and instead issued portions of their April 2, 2005 concert at Denver’s Fillmore Auditorium as moe.: Live At The Fillmore on October 3, 2006. However, audio from the run made it onto moe.’s hybrid studio/live album The Conch in 2007 including five full songs as the LP’s High & Congress bonus CD.
The quintet went heavy on new material over the course of the two-night stand in Portland. “Blue Jeans Pizza,” “Lost Along The Way,” “Tailspin,” “The Pit,” “Wind It Up,” “She” and “The Road” — which would each appear on The Conch — were played at The State. “She,” “Wind It Up,” “The Road,” “The Pit” and “George” were each performed twice to give the band a second opportunity at each song.
moe.’s Portland 2005 run also featured a number of classics. Night one included such oldies as “Timmy Tucker,” “Happy Hour Hero,” “Recreational Chemistry” and “Brent Black,” while night two incorporated “Captain America,” “32 Things,” “St. Augustine,” “Rebubula” and “Plane Crash,” among others. The moe.ron Mondays finale started with two tunes from June 10 followed by guitarist Al Schnier‘s announcement during the first set on June 11 that fans would have to evacuate the building and a handful of songs from the second set. moe. then aired the second set in its entirety as well as the “Plane Crash” encore.
