Blackberry Smoke welcomed a number of guests including Billy Strings and Jerry Douglas to share the stage last night at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. The show at the mostly empty venue was broadcast as the latest installment of BBS’ Pandemic Jam livestream concert series via Mandolin.

Wednesday’s performance began with a run of originals including the “Fire In The Hole” opener as well as “Leave A Scar,” “Rock And Roll Again” and more. Vocalists The Black Bettys augmented the group on “Crimson Moon” and “Believe You Me” and would later appear at various points of the set. Next, Blackberry Smoke jammed on the Beatles’ “Why Don’t Se Do It In The Road?” ahead of Holding All The Roses track “Lay It All On Me.”

Billy Strings emerged with acoustic in hand as BBS’ Charlie Starr played mandolin on a cover of The Everly Brothers’ “I’m Here To Get My Baby Out Of Jail.” Strings and Starr then both went electric for a take on the Grateful Dead’s “Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo.” Blackberry Smoke continued on with “Too High” and “Everybody Knows She’s Mine” before the band was joined by Douglas and Tommy Emmanuel for “White Freight Liner Blues” by Townes Van Zandt and the George Jones gem “I Always Get Lucky With You.”

The evening’s next guest was Wet Willie vocalist Jimmy Hall. Blackberry Smoke previously teamed with Hall at the recently reopened Capricorn Sound Studios in Macon, Georgia for tracks that appear on the band’s latest release, Live From Capricorn Sound Studios. Jimmy Hall led the group through Titus Turner’s “Grits Ain’t Groceries,” Wet Willie’s “Keep On Smilin’” and “Southern Child” by Little Richard.

Staples “One Horse Town” and “Like An Arrow” followed before Blackberry Smoke closed out the night with a medley of Little Feat’s “Fat Man In The Bathtub” and their own “Ain’t Much Left Of Me.” The next Pandemic Jam livestream will originate from West End Sound in Atlanta on Friday, October 30.
