Richmond, Virginia-based funk outfit Butcher Brown has released their new studio album, #KingButch, which arrived via Concord this past Friday, September 18th. The energizing 13-track album is the five-piece group’s first full-length studio effort since 2018’s Camden Session.

The recordings featured throughout #KingButch showcase their high-energy funk collaborations and also act as the foundation to hip-hop-inspired songs with vocal performances on select tracks.

Since emerging in 2014 with their debut album, All Purpose Music, Butcher Brown have earned a following within the space-jazz/funk realm thanks to a consistent performance schedule having toured with bands like Turkuaz, and appearances at major music festivals—they were supposed to play two sets at this year’s Suwannee Rising Music Festival prior to its cancelation. The band was recently tapped by ESPN to provide the intro music for Monday Night Football in collaboration with the late Little Richard.

“‘#KingButch’ is a representation of the last 3 years, from the hardcore touring to countless nights in the studio,” the band added in a statement to go with Friday’s release. “We’re excited to share our most recent work with all of you around the world.”
