A coalition of artists has come together to create Good Music To Avert The Collapse Of American Democracy, a compilation album of unreleased music that will raise money for voting rights causes via Fair Fight.
Fair Fight is a non-profit organization that promotes fair elections around the country through voter education and registration initiatives. The organization will receive 100 percent of the proceeds from the compilation, set for a one-day only release on Bandcamp September 4th.

Featured on Good Music To Avert The Collapse Of American Democracy are R.E.M., Hayley Williams, Matt Berninger (The National), Grouplove, Soccer Mommy, My Morning Jacket, Death Cab for Cutie, Jeff Tweedy, Sharon Van Etten, The Decemberists, Phoebe Bridgers, Angel Olson, Courtney Barnett, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, and many more. The compilation will also feature collaborations between Tycho and Ben Gibbard (Death Cab For Cutie), Flume and Eprom, Poolside and Todd Edwards, and more.
The collection was spearheaded and executive produced by author Dave Eggers, who worked alongside managers Jordan Kurland and Darius Zelkha (Brilliant Corners Artist Management), Christian Stavros (Little Operation Management), and Barsuk Records head Josh Rosenfeld. It also marks the fourth fundraising election project from Eggers and Kurland, who produced 30 Songs, 30 Days 30 (2016); 90 Days, 90 Reasons (2012); and The Future Dictionary of America (2004).
“It’s going to come down to bringing out and protecting the vote this fall, so the work Fair Fight does is crucial,” Eggers said in a press release. “Jordan and I figured a painless way to raise some money would be to ask musicians to donate unreleased tracks, people pay a few bucks for them, and maybe we can edge toward a functioning democracy again.”
Good Music To Avert The Collapse Of American Democracy will be available for 24 hours on Bandcamp September 4th as part of the platform’s Bandcamp Fridays series. Scroll down to see the full tracklist.
