The Prince estate has shared another previously-unreleased recording from the late guitarist and singer, “I Need A Man”.
The funky, horn-filled recording is the latest shared by the estate to appear on a forthcoming Sign O’ The Times expanded box set due out on September 25th. The reissue will mark the ninth posthumous release from Prince’s vault since his death in April 2016. Previously-shared recordings from the reissue include “Witness 4 the Prosecution (Version 2)”, “Forever In My Life (Early Vocal Studio Run-Through)”, “Cosmic Day”, “Witness 4 The Prosecution (Version 1)”, and “I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man”.

As per reports, “I Need A Man” was recorded with help from engineer Susan Rogers on January 22nd, 1987, just months before his now-museum Paisley Park Studios opened for business. The song was intended to go to The Hookers, and Bonnie Raitt nearly recorded the song after Prince saw her perform it and re-worked it for her. Instead, it ended up going into the vault—but now, it is now seeing the light of day.
