Andy Hall, known for his role as the dobro player in The Infamous Stringdusters, has announced details for his next solo studio album, 12 Bluegrass Classics for Resophonic Guitars, due out October 16th via Tape Time Records/Regime Music Group. The 12-track album will be Hall’s first full-length solo effort since 2017’s Let the Steel Play, and fourth overall.
All 12 recordings to be included on the album will be instrumentals, and will feature Hall performing some well-known traditional folk tunes and familiar rock songs including “House of the Rising Sun”, “Ashokan Farewell”, and “Amazing Grace”.
“I’ve always striven to push the envelope as a player, but never had the chance to put my stamp on some of the formative tunes I’ve always played at jam sessions. I chose songs that were familiar to me,” Hall said with Monday’s announcement. “These are tunes that I’ve been playing for years, and that have shaped my playing. These 12 are some of my favorites, and I’m happy to get to offer up my take on them!”
The Stringdusters will return to the stage later this month for the first time since March with an upcoming drive-in concert at The Chinook Drive-In at Terry Bison Ranch in Cheyenne, WY scheduled for September 26th.
