Foo Fighters, Dave Matthews, Brittany Howard and over 30 other acts are on the lineup for the upcoming Save Our Stages Fest livestream special. YouTube Music and the National Independent Venue Association (NIVA) organized the three-day virtual music festival — which runs from Friday, October 16 – Sunday, October 18 via YouTube — to bring attention to the plight of independent venues across the nation struggling during the pandemic and to generate awareness, advocacy and donations for the NIVA Emergency Relief Fund.
Reggie Watts has been tapped to host the #SOSFEST, which will feature 35 artists performing at 25+ independent concert venues across the country. #SOSFEST is expected to include original performances, content and commentary. Black Pumas, Phoebe Bridgers, Leon Bridges, Miley Cyrus, Nathaniel Rateliff, The Revivalists, The Roots, The Lumineers and Demi Lovato are more of the acts aboard for the Save Our Stages Fest.
Venues hosting performances include the 9:30 Club, World Cafe Live, Ryman Auditorium, The Jefferson Theater, Crystal Ballroom, Boulder Theater, Apollo Theater, Tipitina’s and Teragram Ballroom. Music fans can help preserve the live music infrustructure by donating directly to NIVA’s Emergency Relief Fund.
“The smaller music venues and the ones that are really struggling are not only culturally important, they are emotionally important,” said Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl. “Live concerts are the heart and soul of the music industry so it’s critical we do everything we can to save independent music venues,” added Lyor Cohen, Global Head of Music at YouTube. “We are honored to partner with NIVA and create #SOSFEST which gives fans an opportunity to virtually connect with their favorite artists and venues, while doing their part to save these cherished stages. YouTube is in it for the long-haul and we hope you are too.”
