US authorities are to announce charges against two alleged members of the Isis “Beatles” cell involved in a series of hostage beheadings in Syria. A source told the Associated Press that Alexanda Kotey and El Shafee Elsheikh would appear at a court in Alexandria, Virginia, later on Wednesday. The pair were captured in Syria in 2018 as Isis lost its last territory and were held abroad in US military custody.
