On Thursday, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong shared pro-shot footage of the band’s performance of “Weightless” from their recent drive-in show at Legend Valley in Thornville, OH. The concert, which took place on October 3rd, was the latest installment of the band’s Time To Drive-In fall tour.
Following the success of PPPP’s summer run of socially distanced concerts, the Baltimore-bred bird band is on the road every weekend through the rest of October. This coming weekend, Pigeons play South Farms in Morris, CT; Frederick Fairground in Maryland and Circle Drive-In in Scranton, PA the next; Smoky Mountain Center in Asheville, NC the 24th; and a sold-out two-night Halloween run at The Diamond in Richmond, VA.

This performance of the instrumental “Weightless”, which debuted earlier this year, came in the two-slot of the second set. Following an extended run through “Henrietta”, the band dropped straight into this instrumental odyssey. The mellow tune opens as lead guitarist Jeremy Schon sets the scene as his licks slowly get darker and the music continues to build. With delicate hammer-ons that help bolster the main riff, “Weightless” cuts through all of the filler and immediately gets to the crisp jams that everyone showed up for.
