Daptone Records shared Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings’ cover of the Dusty Springfield-popularized “Little By Little.” The nod will appear on Daptone’s upcoming posthumous covers album from Jones, Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Rendition Was In), due out digitally on October 23 and physically for Record Store Day Black Friday on November 29th.
Jones and The Dap Kings’ cover of Springfield’s “Little By Little” follows previous Just Dropped In single, an unreleased recording of Stevie Wonder’s “Signed Sealed Delivered I’m Yours.” Jones’ cover of “Little By Little” originally appeared on a Dusty Springfield compilation.
“‘Little By Little’ is a shining example of how Jones’s incomparable vocals alongside the Dap-Kings deft musicianship and emotive horn section can reimagine a pop classic transforming it into a raw, soulful creation all their own,” as per a statement.
