Tame Impala was supposed to spend this past summer touring across North America in support of his new studio album, 2020’s The Slow Rush. Those plans were of course scrapped with the arrival of COVID-19, but the band has now confirmed the rescheduled dates which will take place in the summer, fall, and winter 2021.
The 2021 North American dates will actually start south of the border at Foro Sol Stadium in Mexico City, MX on July 22nd. From there the band will hit cities in the U.S. and Canada throughout the latter half of summer and into the fall months before wrapping the leg on October 18th following a show at American Airlines Arena in Miami, FL. The rock band’s 2021 summer schedule also includes previously-announced appearances at Spain’s Primavera Sound Barcelona in early June, San Francisco’s Outside Lands Festival (8/8), and Las Vegas’ Life Is Beautiful Festival (9/17).
Additionally, the band’s run of shows in Australia and New Zealand with Khruangbin which were initially scheduled for April have also been confirmed to now take place in early December, although fans should note the new 2021 dates do not seem to include Khruangbin on the billing.
Tickets purchased for the original 2020 dates will be honored at the 2021 shows, and refunds will be available to current ticketholders who cannot attend the new dates.
Since the pause on live events back in March, Kevin Parker has spent the summer months delivering the occasional virtual appearances on the late-night television circuit and online performance series like NPR‘s Tiny Desk (Home) Concert. Tame Impala also just performed a couple songs from an empty soccer stadium to celebrate the premiere of EA Sports‘ new FIFA 2021 video game. Watch that video below:
