The Disco Biscuits’ Jon Barber Launches Couchtour.tv For Drive-In Concert Tour

123

The Disco Biscuits are back on the road this month for the first time since January with a run of 10 drive-in concerts throughout the Northeast. While obviously not everyone can make it to these concerts, a new solution has come to light that will allow everyone to get in on the action: Couchtour.tv.

The new streaming venture is spearheaded by none other than founding Disco Biscuits member and guitarist Jon “The Barber” Gutwillig. Of course, there are plenty of other streaming services—with the numbers growing seemingly everyday—but Couchtour.tv promises to bring a new standard of quality as well as interactivity to the flooding market.

Officially launched on October 3rd with a concert from Chicago trio Orchard Lounge as well as producer DrFameus (aka Biscuits drummer Allen Aucoin), the service has since carried The Disco Biscuits’ three concerts at Yarmouth Drive-In this past weekend, with another slated for Monday night. While the Philadelphia-bred trance fusion pioneers are currently the only act signed on with the service, the Couchtour.tv team includes individuals with years of experience in organizations like The Disco Biscuits, Jambase, Splice, Gracenote, and Full Circle Music Productions.

Barber said of the service in a press release,

It’s tough – if not impossible – for people to get to any kind of public gatherings these days – the Disco Biscuits are grateful as a band that we were able to play these upcoming shows, but with just a handful of shows on the board many of our fans still won’t get the chance to see us perform live they like typically have in the past.

Couchtour.tv isn’t a new idea, but time that would have otherwise been spent on the road opened up the space to finally bring Couchtour.tv to fruition. We’ve got a great team working on this, but it’s still gonna’ be a few months before we can roll this out in its complete form – bells, whistles and all – then it’ll be available wherever fans go to get their apps.

While Couchtour.tv is still in its beta phase, users can expect the aforementioned “bells and whistles” to come into play as time goes on and the service produces more events. These features apply to both sides of the user experience, with enhanced chat and connectivity options for fans—plus high definition video and audio capabilities unparalleled by current streaming providers. For artists, Couchtour.tv provides enhanced connectivity so that will allow performers to host events wherever they are via the use of state-of-the-art technology.

Beyond simply being a provider for artists to stream concerts, Couchtour.tv also has big plans to position itself is a valuable promotional and marketing operation.

“Some artists have truly amazing marketing teams, but we want to make sure both the human and financial resources are available to make each and every performance the best it possibly can be,” said Couchtour.tv’s Derek Haviland. “By design every Couchtour.tv offer has a substantial marketing budget built right into it, and monies allocated for marketing are spent in the most sensible, efficient manner. If we’re streaming a performance, and it’s music you like, we’re gonna’ make sure you know about it… and before the show, not after.”

To see just what Couchtour.tv has to offer, tune in to the remaining seven shows on The Disco Biscuits’ drive-in tour. To order the streams and for more information click here. A portion of each ticket purchased on this run of drive-in concerts will be contributed to HeadCount, the non-profit and non-partisan organization which uses the power of music to register voters and promote participation in democracy.
