Grace Potter Recruits Fans & Artists To Contribute To ‘Eachother’ Video

64

Grace Potter released a crowd-sourced video for her 2020 song, “Eachother.” The visual features fans and artists sharing their interpretations of the tune.

Potter’s “Eachother” has been a collaborative effort since its inception. The singer-songwriter posted the work in progress to her Instagram account in March seeking input on the tune. She would debut “Eachother” in May on her Monday Night Twilight Hour livestream and officially released the single shortly thereafter. Jackson Browne, Jonathan Wilson, Marcus King and Holly Laessig of Lucius are among those who contributed to “Eachother.”

Grace took the collaborative effort one step further by inviting fans to help her create the video. Potter spoke about the project in an interview with CMT.com, who premiered the visual. Read an excerpt below:

“While Thanksgiving is normally the time of the season for gathering together, many of us are not able to be with the ones we love in person,” she said. “I encourage us all to focus less on what we miss about ‘the way things used to be’ and more on creating new opportunities to invite joy and love in our hearts and homes.”

Potter also talked about working on the video:

My favorite moment creating this video was the afternoon and evening I spent watching all the videos the fans submitted. I cried a lot. I laughed a lot. That’s always a good starting point for creating a music video.

It completely opened up the meaning of the song for me. We intentionally kept the instructions wide open because everyone experiences music differently, and I didn’t want to over-shape the results. I am SO glad we did it that way because I never could have imagined how creative people could be in the way they share their own personal stories.
