[UPDATE 12/6/20]: As COVID-19 cases continue to spike in Florida, Oteil Burbridge has canceled his run of outdoor, socially distanced shows at West Palm Beach, FL’s Meyer Amphitheatre this month. The shows were set to take place on Friday, December 11th; Saturday, December 12th; Friday, December 18th; and Saturday, December 19th, with the 12/18 and 12/19 shows scheduled to include guest appearances by guitarist Eric Krasno.

As Oteil notes in a message regarding the shows’ cancellation, “Sad news, family. We tried our best to put on some shows before the year closed out but it seems we are being defeated by the spike in coronavirus cases. We are really sorry for the inconvenience. We were so excited to play again and had many cool surprises in store for you! We are keeping hope alive that the next year will bring a new opportunity to PLAY LIVE again! We love you and thank you so much for the support.”

All tickets for the West Palm Beach shows will be refunded at point of purchase.

[11/25/20] Bassist Oteil Burbridge will return to the stage for a four-night run of socially-distanced shows at West Palm Beach, FL’s Meyer Amphitheatre next month. The Oteil Burbridge Trio Florida performances will take place on Friday, December 11th; Saturday, December 12th; Friday, December 18th; and Saturday, December 19th.

As Oteil explained along with the announcement of the Florida run, “It has been such a hard year for everyone and we want to give you a huge dose of light and love in the sun and surf here at the end!”

As the Meyer Amphitheatre notes on its ticketing page for the concerts, “We’ve gone to great lengths to provide an environment that will be as safe as possible enabling us to join together in limited numbers and release the tumultuous energy of the year as we step into a new hope for the immediate future of live music. … This is an outdoor event with extremely limited capacity that’s organized to follow special Covid protocols and social distancing.”

The announcement of the four Florida shows follows the announcement of a run of five Oteil Burbridge Trio performances in Colorado in early 2021.

Although 2020 has been light on live gigs for everyone, Oteil included, the Dead & Company bassist has kept plenty busy from home, launching his own current-events podcast, Comes A Time, with comedian Mike Finoia. He also served as a guest speaker during Live For Live Music virtual festivals Justice Comes Alive and Democracy Comes Alive.

Tiered tickets for the four-show Oteil Burbridge Trio run at Meyer Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach, Florida are available now via Oteil’s website.
