The Steel Wheels Share ‘Florida Girl (Work For It)’ Single: Exclusive Video Premiere

101

The Steel Wheels shared, “Florida Girl (Work For It),” the latest single from their album Everyone A Song, Vol. 1, which comes out Friday, November 20. The video for the new track premieres via JamBase below.

Harrisonburg, Virginia-based bluegrass-rockers The Steel Wheels consist of guitarist Trent Wagler, bassist Brian Dickel, fiddle player Eric Brubaker, multi-instrumentalist Jay Lapp and percussionist Kevin Garcia. At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, The Steel Wheels launched the “Distance Together” project, allowing fans to commission songs and musical greetings. Led by Wagler, the project resulted in over 60 new original compositions. The band took nine of those songs, written for a variety of life experiences, to make Everyone A Song, Vol. 1.

Recorded remotely at each of the band members’ home studio, the album’s nine songs are individually examined on an accompanying podcast, We Made You A Song, in collaboration with NPR station WMRA. Regarding “Florida Girl (Work For It),” Wagler stated:

Josh and Joanna’s relationship was a little more work than most. A mutual friend introduced them when Josh was living in Seattle and Joanna in Florida. Although not from Florida originally, Josh’s family quickly teased Josh about his relationship with the “Florida Girl.” They eventually took turns flying across the country for visits before getting married during the pandemic. This song was a surprise for their wedding reception.
