Watch Tedeschi Trucks Band Perform On ‘eTown’ In 2011

109

In August 2011 Tedeschi Trucks Band stopped by eTown in Boulder, Colorado to perform for the radio program and podcast. While both guitarist Derek Trucks and vocalist/guitarist Susan Tedeschi had performed for eTown separately, the TTB — who had just formed the year previous — were making their first appearance on the lauded program. Seeing as how the show originally aired during Halloween week 2011, JamBase takes a look at the memorable performance for this special Dia de los Muertos edition of Sunday Cinema.

The TTB — which at the time featured Oteil Burbridge and the late great Kofi Burbridge — kicked things off with “Don’t Let Me Slide” from their 2011 Grammy-winning debut album, Revelator. Trucks came firing right out of the gate with some rapid-fire blues licks followed by Tedeschi’s amazing vocals, a combination that has enthralled audiences for the past decade. After chatting with host Nick Forster, the band offered “Shelter,” also off their debut LP.

Additionally, The eTown appearance featured Revelator tracks “Love Has Something To Say” and “Midnight In Harlem.” For the finale, TTB welcomed eTown performer Joseph Arthur for a medley of Sly & The Family Stone’s “Sing A Simple Song” and “I Want To Take You Higher” with Arthur and Susan training vocals on the former and Derek and Arthur trading licks on the latter to bring the house down.
