The Who: August 29, 1970

At 2 a.m. local time, The Who took the stage in front of an audience consisting of between 600,000 and 700,000 fans at the Isle Of Wight Festival on August 29, 1970. Vocalist Roger Daltrey, guitarist Peter Townshend, bassist John Entwistle and drummer Keith Moon made it worth festivalgoers’ wait by turning in an outrageous performance captured for posterity on a film nugs.net subscribers can watch. The Who mixed oldies “My Generation,” “Magic Bus” and “I Can’t Explain” with material from their Tommy rock opera as well as new tunes “Water” and “I Don’t Even Know Myself.”

The Rolling Stones: July 12, 1975

The Rolling Stones are well represented on nugs.net with video from 11 shows spanning 1969 – 2015 ready to be watched at your leisure. A standout of those choices is the band’s July 12, 1975 concert at The Forum in Los Angeles. The legendary rockers were in the midst of their Made In The Shade tour featuring Billy Preston and had recently added guitarist Ronnie Wood to the mix. Mick Jagger and Keith Richards were in fine form throughout the 25-song performance, which featured outstanding renditions of “Gimme Shelter,” “You Can’t Always Get What You Want,” “It’s Only Rock & Roll,” “Angie” and other gems. Preston stepped into the spotlight for “That’s Life” and “Outa-Space.”

Little Feat: June 7, 1976

One of the latest additions to nugs.net’s on-demand video offerings is Little Feat’s June 7, 1976 set at Holland’s Pink Pop Festival. The band came out blazing with a run of “Skin It Back,” “Fat Man In The Bathtub” and “Rock & Roll Doctor” before Lowell George starred on “All That You Dream.” Little Feat also served up a nicely extended 10-minute “Dixie Chicken” and go on to end the set by pairing “Feats Don’t Fail Me Now” and “Teenage Nervous Breakdown.” Here’s your chance to see Little Feat in action one year before they would play the shows documented on the legendary live album Waiting for Columbus.

Bob Marley: June 13, 1980

Forty years ago, Bob Marley embarked on a tour of Europe and the United States with The Wailers in support of their Uprising album. The 38-show excursion would be the last for the reggae icon, who succumbed to cancer on May 11, 1981. Marley & The Wailers brought the run to Dortmund, Germany on June 13, 1980 and the concert was filmed for the German live music television program Rockpalast. nugs.net’s on-demand video catalog includes not only Marley’s performance but a short set from The I Threes. Highlights from Bob’s set are numerous with an emotional “Redemption Song,” swampy “Zimbabwe” and gorgeous “No Woman, No Cry” among them.

Widespread Panic: September 25, 1999

nugs.net subscribers can currently pick from a library of 20 full Widespread Panic shows available for on-demand viewing. The concerts span 1994 – 2019 and include the band’s famed September 25, 1999 performance at Oak Mountain Amphitheater in Pelham, Alabama. Panic’s old school lineup of guitarists John Bell and Michael Houser, keyboardist JoJo Hermann, drummer Todd Nance, bassist Dave Schools and percussionist Domingo “Sunny” Ortiz always brought their A-Game to Oak Mountain and this show is no exception. The band was joined by longtime collaborator Jerry Joseph for a sensational “Proving Ground” featuring the debut of “North” within as well as the “Climb To Safety” that followed to end the evening’s second set. Shot by one camera at the soundboard, you can almost feel the energy from the crowd.

Jimmy Buffett: September 12, 2004

Jimmy Buffett made his Fenway Park debut with shows on September 10 and 12, 2004, which came just weeks before the Boston Red Sox won the World Series for the first time since 1918. nugs.net subscribers can view video of the second show featuring an introduction from Buffett and behind-the-scenes footage. Buffett led the Coral Reefer Band on 29-song performance at the historic ballpark that included such beloved favorites as “Why Don’t We Get Drunk,” “Volcano,” “Coast Of Carolina” and “Margaritaville.” The show also featured plenty of covers with takes on the Grateful Dead’s “Scarlet Begonias,” Alan Jackson’s “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere” and Crosby, Stills & Nash’s “Southern Cross” among them.

Umphrey’s McGee (w/ Huey Lewis): May 29, 2011

The final Umphrey’s McGee set of the 2011 Summer Camp Music Festival was a memorable one. Billed as Huey Lewis and the rUMors, the sextet was joined by legendary rocker Huey Lewis for the bulk of their 70-minute performance. UM kicked off the afternoon with the classic “All In Time” and the debut of original “Room To Breathe.” Lewis then emerged to add to 10 songs. Huey’s own “Heart & Soul,” “Workin’ For A Livin’” and “I Want A New Drug” were played as were UM originals “Women Wine & Song” and “Partyin’ Peeps.” Additionally, Huey Lewis and the rUMors presented covers of Wilson Pickett’s “Don’t Fight It,” The Band’s “Up On Cripple Creek” and “The Weight,” The Staple Singers’ “Respect Yourself” and Taj Mahal’s “She Caught The Katy.” Mad Dog’s Filthy Little Secret horns and vocalists Gale Gardner and Linda Greenwood augmented the ensemble at various points of the set.

Dave Matthews Band: July 27, 2019

Dave Matthews Band were firing on all cylinders when they ended the three-month first leg of Summer Tour 2019 at Coral Sky Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach, Florida on July 27, 2019. The septet had a number of treats in store for their faithful fans in South Florida. Not only did DMB bust out the first full-band version of “I’ll Back You Up” since July 1, 2015, they also welcomed an old friend. Dead & Company bassist Oteil Burbridge was the group’s special guest on an exquisite rendition of “#41.” Oteil’s appearance came 16 years to the day of his last DMB sit-in and needs to be seen to be believed. nugs.net subscribers can both see and believe it.

My Morning Jacket: August 2, 2019

On August 2, 2019, My Morning Jacket brought a 17-month hiatus to a close with their first of two performances at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado. nugs.net subscribers can view the emotional concert, which featured a 23-song, all-originals setlist. The show spanned nearly three hours and included material from all seven of the band’s studio albums. The triumphant “Victory Dance” opener, powerful “I’m Amazed” and delicate “Golden” were among the highlights along with a 27-minute (!!) version of “Dondante.”

Dead & Company: October 31, 2019

A very special Dead & Company show took place at Madison Square Garden in New York City on October 31, 2019. Not only did the Halloween concert kick off the band’s “Fall Fun Run,” but it was also the sextet’s first performance following the death of Grateful Dead lyricist Robert Hunter. Dead & Company –- which consists of Grateful Dead members Bob Weir, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann as well as John Mayer, Oteil Burbridge and Jeff Chimenti — filled both sets exclusively with songs penned by Hunter. The band opened with a beautiful “Ripple” and included such Hunter-written gems as “Terrapin Station,” “Playing In The Band,” “Eyes Of The World” and “The Wheel” into the evening’s setlist. D&C continued a Halloween tradition by encoring with a cover of Warren Zevon’s “Werewolves Of London.”
