Bruce Springsteen, Eddie Vedder & More Perform For ‘Stand With Teachers’

104

On Monday night, TeachRock and Steven Van Zandt presented Stand With Teachers, a livestreamed fundraiser that honored educators, benefitted the organization’s direct work with teachers and encouraged people to support teachers and students in their communities. Bruce Springsteen, Eddie Vedder, Margo Price and Jackson Browne were among those who performed as part of Stand With Teachers.

The hour-long special began with an introduction from Van Zandt that led into a segment on an educator in Harlem that used the music of Kendrick Lamar to teach history. Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder was the evening’s first performer and offered a rendition of Bruce Springsteen’s “Growin’ Up.” More features on TeachRock’s work followed.

Next, Tom Morello discussed the importance of teachers, including his mother, Mary Morello, who changed many students’ lives. Margo Price then played her unreleased song “Long Live The King” and Jackson Browne performed “The Rebel Jesus,” a tune he wrote for The Chieftains. The final performer of the special was Bruce Springsteen, who delivered a solo version of “Letter To You,” the title track from his 2020 studio album.

Ticketholders can stream the special on-demand for the next three days.
