Camp Cope, Tia Gostelow And More Are Playing A Fundraiser In Brisbane Early Next Year

Camp Cope, Tia Gostelow, WAAX, Mo’Ju and more will perform as part of next year’s A Carry 4 Coins fundraiser show in Brisbane.

Set to take place at Fortitude Music Hall on Friday, 5th February 2021, the stacked bill also includes Emily Wurramara and Barkaa, with more to be announced.

The event – organised by the Miss Blanks-led Point Blank Group – will raise money for Black Rainbow, an organisation that specialises in suicide prevention and wellbeing of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander LGBTQIA+ community. It will also fundraise for a collective of transgender women of colour working within their community to raise funds for gender affirmation surgery.

Next year’s event follows an inaugural launch earlier in 2020, which raised over $24,000 for those affected by last summer’s bushfires, with profits split between Firesticks Alliance and Mogo Aboriginal Land Council.

“This initiative has been a great example of story-telling, togetherness, community activation, and the power of humanity. When David (my business partner) and I started this event, it was us in the living room ordering dinner and texting mad friends like Kaiit, Sampa, Kira, and others to be part of this event. We couldn’t stand by while we were seeing our community suffer from such a tragic event,” commented Miss Blanks in a statement.

“Fast forward nearly a year, we’re plagued with the impacts of COVID-19 which has disproportionately affected Black, Indigenous, People of Colour, Poor people, LGBTIQA+ people, Disabled folk, Sex Workers, and many other people not represented and cared for on a social, governmental, or industrial level.
