An all-star lineup of musical acts including Dave Matthews, Bob Weir and Grace Potter will contribute performances to Georgia Comes Alive, a one-day virtual festival to promote voter participation in the upcoming Georgia runoff elections. Georgia Comes Alive airs on Saturday, December 26 starting at 3 p.m. ET/12 p.m. PT.
Georgia Comes Alive is being put together by Live For Live Music in partnership with HeadCount. Those who visit the festival’s website and make a donation of any size will get an email that includes a link to the stream on the day of the show. Powered by nugs.net and Plus1, proceeds from the livestream will go towards local grassroots organizations in Georgia including the Georgia Coalition For The People’s Agenda and CivicGeorgia.
A highlight of the lineup is a supergroup dubbed The Lame Ducks featuring Weir, Dave Schools, Jeff Chimenti and Jay Lane. Warren Haynes, Diplo, Portugal. The Man, Tank & The Bangas, Ben Folds, Billy Strings, The Revivalists, Big Freedia, Preservation Hall Jazz Band and Big Gigantic are just a few of other acts set to appear on Georgia Comes Alive.
“This is a great way for people outside of Georgia to support the amazing organizations doing the hard work on the ground in The Peach State,” said HeadCount co-founder Andy Bernstein. “We hope the funds we raise and the positive energy all have a real impact.”
SiriusXM’s Ari Fink will serve as host of the virtual festival. Organizers launched a digital sweepstakes via Fandiem in which fans can donate for a chance to win exclusive prizes from Georgia Comes Alive artists.
