Garcia Family Provisions Releases ‘GarciaLive Volume 15’ From 1971 Keystone Korner Show [Stream]

Deadheads and jazz fans can now relive Jerry Garcia and Merl Saunders‘ May 21st, 1971 performance at San Francisco’s Keystone Korner on the new GarciaLive Volume 15 live album, out today.

The 10-track live album includes previously-shared recordings of “The Wall Song” (their cover of the David Crosby original), an instrumental entitled “Keystone Korner Jam”, and a cover of Stevie Wonder‘s “I Was Made To Love Her”. Longtime Jerry Garcia Band bassist John Kahn was not in attendance for the 1971 club performance, so the lineup that evening was that of a trio consisting of Garcia on guitar, Saunders on keys, and Bill Vitt on drums. Saxophonist Martin Fierro also joined in throughout the night, making this his first and only public performance with Garcia and Saunders.
