2020 has been an odd year for many. Take Dave Grohl for instance.
After getting bested by a 10-year-old girl at a drumming competition (no shame, mind you) and announcing Foo Fighters’ 10th album, the head Foo now finds himself covering Drake‘s 2015 hit, ‘Hotline Bling’.
While the song might seem like a strange choice for your rock n’ roll dad to jam on, there’s a solid reason behind it.
Grohl and Fooies producer Greg Kurstin recently announced the Hanukkah Sessions, a new video series project designed to celebrate Jewish artists for each day of Hanukkah.
As Pitchfork points out, Drake, whose mum is Jewish, has previously identified himself as “a proud young Jewish boy”.
You can check out Grohl & Kurtin’s homage to Drizzy below, which features the Foo Fighter both drumming and singing lead vocals.
Meanwhile, Foo Fighters’ new LP Medicine at Midnight on Feb 5, while Drake’s next record, Certified Lover Boy, is set for release in January.
