James Taylor premiered restored video of his entire November 16, 1970 performance in London that was featured in a BBC In Concert television special. The release of the full 35-minute set comes after Taylor kicked off an archival video series with clips of the individual songs.
The acclaimed singer-songwriter was just 22-years-old at the time of the taping and had recently released his sophomore studio album, Sweet Baby James. Taylor presented a mix of originals from his first two albums and a handful of choice covers.
James opened with a cover of the Beatles’ “With A Little Help From My Friends.” Taylor was one of the first artists signed to the Fab Four’s short-lived Apple Records label. Apple released James’ self-titled debut album in 1969, which was represented during In Concert by “Carolina In My Mind” and “Rainy Day Man.” Songs from Sweet Baby James played in London for the BBC included “Fire & Rain” and “Steamroller.”
