Back in October, Kid Cudi came out the blue with the announcement fans had been clamoring after for years: the forthcoming release of Man On The Moon III: The Chosen. While his initial teaser merely confirmed the album’s existence, on Monday the rapper announced that the completion of the three-album trilogy will come this Friday (12/11). [UPDATE 12/11/20]: Man On The Moon III: The Chosen is now live. Along with the album, Cudi has released a video featuring music from the album entitled “Kid Cudi: She Knows This – The Rager, Menace Part 1”. Below, stream the album in its entirety and watch the new video. You can also listen to the album here.

The arrival of Man On The Moon III comes 11 years after the first volume, Man On The Moon: The End Of Day—Cudi’s first major LP—brought the Cleveland-born hip-hop artist to national prominence in 2009. Following it up with 2010’s Man On The Moon II: The Legend Of Mr. Rager the next year took Cudi (real name, Scott Mescudi) to the top of the national stage as he worked with Kanye WestCeeLo Green, and other luminaries.

The 18-track offering will host features from Pop SmokeSkeptaPhoebe Bridgers, and Trippie Redd. According to Rolling Stone, a spokesperson for Bridgers confirmed that her contribution to the song will be a new recording and not a sample of a previous song. It’s also worth noting that Cudi has once again worked with Dot Da Genius, Plain Pat, and several other artists who helped with the first two volumes of the trilogy. Man On The Moon III is split up into four acts; with the first five tracks comprising Act 1: Return 2 Madness; tracks six through nine telling Act 2: The Rager, The Menace; tracks 10—14 making up Act 3: Heart Of Rose Gold; and tracks 15—18 concluding the story with Act 4: Powers.

The back of the album artwork also contains a statement summarizing Cudi’s oft-perilous journey to finally completing the Man On The Moon trilogy, struggling with substance abuse and mental health issues along the way.

In the last 10 years, Scott Mescudi has been through hell and back. After feeling like his world was over, he found hope and overcame the darkness that was plaguing his life.

But happiness isn’t forever. What he thought was peace turns into a nightmare. He finds himself lost dealing with the same pain he had not felt in years. In one night, he must face himself again and fight to win back his soul from the evil Mr. Rager. Featuring epic production from the legend Dot Da Genius, Take A Day Trip, and the return of the team that helped start it all: Plain Pat, Emile Haynie, and Mike Dean, fall back into the world and twisted mind of Kid Cudi for the final installment of the Man On The Moon trilogy.
