Leslie Mendelson recently visited the Applehead Recording studios in Woodstock, NY for a solo piano performance of her 2018 single, “Happy New Year”. The performance inside the brightly-lit studio setting was both filmed and recorded and has now been shared to Mendelson’s YouTube for fans to enjoy leading up to New Yea’s Eve next week.
Though many folks have plenty of reasons to air grievances right this time of the year after what’s been a pretty dismal and depressing 2020, Mendelson’s enchanting performance does offer a sliver of end-of-year optimism thanks to her beautiful melodies and lovely piano playing.
“Back in October I was taking requests for a live stream I was about to play at City Winery and someone asked for my song ‘Happy New Year,’” Mendelson said of her new video in a press statement. “I was thinking that it was a little early to play a holiday song, but seeing as how badly everyone wants this year to be over with, I decided to include it and it felt really right singing it that night.”
