While the release of a long-awaited The Beatles: Get Back documentary prepped by director Peter Jackson has been postponed until 2021 due to the pandemic, Jackson shared a preview of what’s in store. The “sneak peek” montage features nearly six minutes of footage from the film, which is now due in theaters on August 27, 2021 ahead of its release on Disney+.
Jackson is culling the flm from over 60 hours of never-been-seen footage captured by Michael Lindsay-Hogg in January 1969 for the 1970 film, Let It Be and 150+ hours of audio. The Beatles: Get Back showcases the Beatles at work on their Let It Be album and performing live for the last time.
“We wanted to give the fans of The Beatles all over the world a holiday treat, so we put together this five-minute sneak peek at our upcoming theatrical film ‘The Beatles: Get Back.’ We hope it will bring a smile to everyone’s faces and some much-needed joy at this difficult time,” said Peter Jackson. The preview shows “the vibe and the energy” that Jackson feels displays “the spirit of the film.”
