Phish will issue an official recording of their November 28, 1994 concert at Montana State University’s Field House in Bozeman, Montana this Friday, December 18 via LivePhish.com. The band’s archivist, Kevin Shapiro, just made the announcement on SiriusXM’s Phish Radio. The quartet’s November 28, 1994 performance marked their first ever show in Montana. Phish returned to Big Sky Country just once since, as they played Adams Fieldhouse on the campus of the University Of Montana in Missoula on October 8, 1995. Only a portion of the show circulates as an audience recording let alone the soundboard that will be released on Friday.
Phish’s live debut in Montana contained many memorable moments. The improvisational centerpiece was a 44-minute “Tweezer” featuring a “Digital Delay Loop Jam.” Phish released a brief excerpt of the “Bozeman Tweezer” as “Montana” on their 1995 live album, A Live One.
Other highlights include a particularly potent “Divided Sky” that ended the first set, the fun pairing of “Suzy Greenberg” and “NICU” that kicked off the second set and a “Fee” Phish dropped into “Tweezer Reprise” as the evening’s encore. Additionally, youngster Cameron McKinney made his fourth and final guest appearance with the band on saxophone for “Simple.” McKinney first sat-in with Phish on May 14, 1988 when he was just three-years-old. Cameron then joined on ukelele for “Contact” and to count off “Big Black Furry Creatures From Mars” on April 18, 1992 in Palo Alto, California and also performed a solo rendition of “Indian War-Dance” during “Reba” on March 14, 1993 in Gunnison, Colorado.
