Legendary bassist Bootsy Collins unveiled the video for “Lips Turn Blue,” a track from his 2020 studio album, The Power Of One. “Lips Turn Blue” features vocalist Emmaline and is Collins’ first bilingual track as Emmaline sings part of the song in Spanish.
“It’s pretty exciting to introduce something we have never done together as a team to the world,” Bootsy explained to Rolling Stone. “For me, it’s like cooking, you add different spices and herbs to get that special sauce that excites your taste buds. Well, in this case earbuds!”
The Power Of One arrived via Bootzilla Records/Sweetwater Studios on October 23. Bootsy began work on The Power Of One at Sweetwater Studios ahead of the pandemic. The James Brown collaborator/Parliament-Funkadelic member finished off the guest-filled LP at his Boot-Cave Studios in Cincinnati.
Bootsy Collins made his Jam Cruise debut aboard Jam Cruise 12 in 2014. Official video featuring one of Bootsy’s sets from the trip airs via StageIt tomorrow, Saturday, January 30 at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT. “We stayed on the Jam cruise for about a week,” the bassist recalled. “It was a party from the time we boarded, until we landed back home. Now that was hot, watching the mermaids swimming while we were funkin’ it up on stage.”
