Iconic musician Bruce Springsteen kicked off Wednesday’s Celebrating America inaugural special with a performance of “Land Of Hopes & Dreams.” The Boss played the song that was debuted live in 1999 and appears on 2012’s Wrecking Ball from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C.
Celebrating America aired in primetime last night following the inauguration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris earlier in the day. “Good evening America, I’m proud to be here in cold Washington D.C. tonight,” Springsteen said ahead of his performance. “I want to offer this small prayer for our country, this is ‘Land Of Hopes And Dreams.’”
Tom Hanks hosted Celebrating America, which also featured performances from Foo Fighters, Katy Perry and others. Celebrating America was broadcast on most major television stations and many online outlets. Bruce went solo acoustic for the intimate rendition of “Land Of Hopes & Dreams” at the historic locale.
