The California Roots Music & Arts Festival postponed its 2021 event to 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The expanded festival will now take place Thursday, May 26 through Sunday, May 29 at the Monterey County Fair and Event Center in Monterey, California.
Cali Roots 2022 will feature much of the same lineup planned for the 2021 event including Rebelution, Atmosphere, Chronixx, Damian Marley, Sean Paul, Ice Cube, Sublime With Rome and more. The newly added fourth day will see Dirty Heads topping the bill along with sets from Fortunate Youth and Alborosie among others.
Festival co-producer Dan Sheehan detailed the postponement and expansion in a statement. Read his words below:
The past year has been very challenging, giving many of us more time to reflect on what’s important. The Cali Roots community is amazing, supportive, and made clear on how much this festival means to them. That is why we are committed to returning in 2022 for the strongest Cali Roots to date, including an additional day of music. To everyone that has stuck by us, bought our merch, or sent positive messages our way, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We are dedicated to producing another unforgettable event and are counting the days until we are together again.
