King Krule – aka Archy Marshall – has shared a cover of John Lennon‘s 1971 hit ‘Imagine’ to his Bandcamp page. It arrived over the weekend accompanied by a brief message from Marshall: “recorded in sweat, last summer, for a friend.”
Considerably more tasteful than a slew of celebrities singing the tune from their mansions, Marshall’s rendition of ‘Imagine’ is a hazy and relatively sparse cut. It’s primarily oriented around washed out guitars and the the singer’s ambling croon. Listen to it below.
He isn’t the only indie rocker to have given his spin on a Lennon classic in the last few months. Back in October, Tame Impala mastermind Kevin Parker shared an acoustic cover of Lennon’s ‘Jealous Guy’ on what would have been the Beatle’s 80th birthday.
After a period of inactivity following 2017’s The Ooz, Marshall released Man Alive!, his fourth album under the King Krule moniker, back in February of last year.
