The big dreams of upstart Princeton, NJ rocker Micky James will become reality on see big dreams turn into reality on Wednesday, February 3rd at 4:00 p.m. ET when his unlikely performance from the historic The Met Philly airs as a national livestream via BandsInTown‘s Twitch page.

James has always had a flair for the theatrical. Inspired by the authentic energy of ’60s and ’70s iconic rock bands, James has found early successful in crafting a modern and fresh approach to a timeless genre. “I wanted to take pieces of nostalgia and give it a contemporary twist,” he explained in a statement.

He had long dreamed of playing lauded rooms like The Met Philly, where he had attended performances by Bob DylanPeter FramptonGreta Van FleetDr. Dog, and more. While his still-brief resume would have precluded his own Met show in a normal year, his energetic, howling style (think The Darkness) and lofty aspirations longed for an extravagant stage—and the still-shuttered Met Philly agreed to play along.

In October, Micky James and his band took to the Met Philly stage to perform a 35-minute live show to an empty venue. Now, with the BandsInTown stream of Mickey James – Live at the Met – The Philadelphia Special on February 3rd, that dream performance on one of Philly’s biggest stage will air to music fans across the country and beyond.

Originally built in 1908 by opera impresario Oscar Hammerstein, The Met Philadelphia recently completed a massive $56 million restoration lead by Live Nation, and is the crown jewel of North Broad Street’s renaissance. Since its reopening in December 2018, the venue has hosted numerous artists covering a wide array of genres, including Madonna, Meek Mill, Phish, Sting, Ringo Starr, Sarah Brightman, Gary Clark, Jr., and nearly 200 other artists.

“The Met is a remarkable facility that has attracted many of the world’s premier entertainers while creating a new sense of pride for the region,” said Geoff Gordon, regional president, Live Nation Philadelphia. “The Met also serves as an inspiration for many local musicians and performers like Micky to dream big. When Micky approached us with the idea to film his debut video on the stage at the Met, we knew we were onto something special – A rising Philadelphia star on one of Philadelphia’s biggest stages.”

“The video showcases Micky’s incredible gift while highlighting the Met’s unique features,” added Gordon. “We are grateful for the opportunity to work with Micky and his management team and look forward to hopefully another performance at the Met one day soon.”

An accompanying live EP release will follow the national stream of Micky James – Live At the Met in early February. He will also appear on Alt 104.5 FM (Philadelphia) “Live at Five” with Jammin’ Jessie on Friday, January 29th at 5 p.m ET.
