Con Brio Releases New Single ‘Nonsense’ To Benefit Bay Area Non-Profit Community Organizations

72

San Francisco-based band Con Brio addresses the recent string of police killings with the release of new single “Nonsense.” Proceeds from the song and its accompanying video will go towards Bay Area non-profit community organizations Youth Alive, Long Live Love Foundation and People’s Breakfast.

“Nonsense” is a soul-laden, horn-driven song featuring powerful vocals from frontman Ziek McCarter. The video, which premiered via Glide Magazine, mixes footage from last year’s protests fighting for racial equality with images of the band members and their friends.

Read a statement from Con Brio regarding “Nonsense” below:

At the height of last year’s protests demanding justice for George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery, we came together as a band to talk about how we should approach and address the failure of leadership and lack of accountability on the part of both the President and law enforcement officials in acknowledging and rectifying the hurt and trauma resulting from police brutality. We wanted not only to say something, but to do something. We decided to release ‘Nonsense’ with the hope that its message would inspire others to join in the fight for equality for all, inspire people to work harder to unite and strengthen their communities, to stop accepting the status quo as the only way, and to no longer be victims of the powers that be. This video was shot around the Bay Area and we want it to serve as a reminder of how powerful we can be when we come together as a community.

Since that time things have only gotten more divisive and contentious and though we hope for the best, the time is now to start the process of growth and rebuilding. Tied to this release is an initiative to raise funds for several Bay Area non-profit community organizations. We’re giving all proceeds and donations raised from the ‘Nonsense’ release to organizations that help the under-heard, underserved, and the houseless, specifically in communities of color.

The band will also donate all February merch sales to Youth Alive, Long Live Love Foundation and People’s Breakfast. Watch Con Brio’s “Nonsense” video below:
