Former Squirrel Nut Zippers bandmates Andrew Bird and Jimbo Mathus joined forces for the forthcoming collaborative album These 13. Today, the pair previewed the LP, which is due out via Thirty Tigers on March 5, with the single “Poor Lost Souls” and an accompanying live performance video.
These 13 was put together between 2018 – 2020. Mike Viola produced the 13-track collection, which marks the pair’s first work together in nearly two decades. “It’s been my dream for years now to make this record with Jimbo,” Bird said of These 13. “Just guitar, fiddle and our very different voices.”
“Poor Lost Souls” opens These 13 and follows previously released single “Sweet Oblivion.” Jimbo and Andrew filmed a performance of “Poor Lost Souls” on a rooftop in Los Angeles.
