The Who Details ‘The Who Sell Out’ Super Deluxe Edition & Shares Pete Townshend Demos

The Who will reissue their iconic 1967 album The Who Sell Out through UMC/Polydor on April 23. Super Deluxe Editions contain 112 tracks, 46 of which are previously unreleased including 14 Pete Townshend demos. The band previewed the set by sharing Townshend’s “Odorono,” “Kids! Do You Want Kids” and “Pictures Of Lily” demos.

The Super Deluxe Edition consists of five CDs and pair of bonus seven-inch vinyl singles. All come with an 80-page book featuring rare photos, memorabilia and track-by-track notes penned by Townshend as well as nine posters and inserts.

The massive box set’s first CD contains the original mono mix album plus mono As & Bs and unreleased mono mixes, while the second CD is devoted to the original stereo mix plus stereo bonus tracks. Outtakes, “fly-on-the-wall” early takes from The Who Sell Out sessions and studio banter in collected on the third CD with the fourth, “The Road To Tommy,” includes stereo mixes of the studio tracks recorded in 1968 – some previously unreleased – plus 1968 As and Bs mono mixes. Finally, Townshend’s 14 demos are featured on the fifth CD.

Other The Who Sell Out formats are 2-LP vinyl reissues, available in stereo or mono, as well as a 2-CD deluxe edition. The reissues are also coming to digital streaming and download services.
